catch a ball with a mitt. not your face.

We were at Ryan's softball game, even though he wasn't there that night, out of town, my boys still wanted to go with their friends, so we went.  The kids love to gather home run balls and turn them in for a piece of bubble gum.  They were all hanging out in the out field and someone hit a home run, and unfortunately Noah wasn't paying attention and it knocked him right over.  The game stopped, he started screaming, players were jumping over the fence and I was running out there.  I didn't see it hit him, thank goodness!  I just knew it was him at the first cry.  Luckily uncle Josh was there to save him and me:)  He picked him right up and drove us to the hospital.  Couple hours later and a lot of text between Ryan and family members, we left with a BROKEN NOSE & 4 STITCHES, 3 under the the nose and 1 inside his nostril...that one was tricky, 1 doctor,2 nurses and mom holding him down.  He was so tough and brave!  He was so tired and slept most of the time we were at the hospital and we were so lucky, it could have been much worse.  Crazy!
He was happy to go back the ball field the next week and watch the game, just no more home run balls.  He was like a celebrity there!  Players and the league pres. giving him all kids of treats, Noah was loving it and had hardly bruised.
the day after it happened, he said "I should have just ducked behind the fence"
